Laproscopic gastric band surgeryBariatric surgery also better known as, 'Weight loss cosmetic surgery' is an effective tool for patients dealing with obesity and who have maximised their gains using conventional means of diet, exercising, etc.
Lapband surgery reduces the size or volume of the stomach with a gastric band device. This restriction of the stomach size can be created with the use a silicone band. Over a period of time this can be adjusted by addition or reduction of saline using a port placed under the patient's skin. The inflatable band slows and limits the intake of food that can be consumed by the patient during a meal. The stomach tends to feel 'full' more quickly and with smaller portions of food. Surgical insertion of the adjustable gastric band using a laproscopic surgery is often referred to, 'Lap Band' procedure. A small laparoscopic camera is placed through the incision (approx sized 1.25 cm or 0.5 in) into the patient's abdomen. This camera shares images of the patient's abdomen to the surgeon's monitor and guides him with placing the Band.
Adjustable gastric band (Lap band)surgery is a bariatric procdure devised for obese patients with a BMI (body mass index) of 40 or more.
